Privacy Policy

Hello!

Here at Pom Pom we want to make sure you feel safe using our website. We are committed to respecting and taking care of your personal data in the same way we would a hand-knit, so we have written this privacy policy to explain more about what personal data we collect and when. The most important thing we want you to know is that we do not sell or trade email lists with other companies or businesses, and that any data you share with us in order to make a purchase will only be used in the ways you would expect; to send you the lovely things you have bought, and to contact you about your order. In the following paragraphs we’ve provided even more information about when and why personal information might be collected, how it’s used, the conditions under which it might be disclosed to others, and how it’s kept secure. Basically we want to keep pesky moths away from your hand-knits (too far?).

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Our website is hosted in the EEA (European Economic Area), and statistical data about users’ browsing actions and patterns is collected, but this data is anonymous and does not identify any individual. This isn’t covered by GDPR as it’s anonymous, but we thought it would be worth mentioning to reassure you! We work with Shopify as a platform, but they do not collect or hold any of our client data.

Newsletters

If you sign up to receive our newsletters, we will collect your name and email address from you with your consent. We use that information to send you information about things you have asked us to tell you about, from sneak peeks at upcoming issues, to podcast releases and giveaways! We use a third party provider (Mailchimp), to create and deliver our newsletters and subscription reminder emails. We gather statistics around email opening and clicks using industry standard technologies to help us monitor and improve our e-newsletter, this data is anonymous and is only collected to help us make sure we are sending you things that you want to read. For more information, please see MailChimp’s privacy notice. You can unsubscribe to our general newsletters at any time of the day or night by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any of our emails or by emailing us directly – contact@pompommag.com, and we will be more than happy to help.

Online Shop

If you buy something from us (for example the latest issue of Pom Pom, or a subscription – lucky you!) we will collect the information that allows us to send you the item you bought, whether digital or not, and to stay in touch where necessary. We may need to contact you to check our records are correct if, for example, a magazine gets returned to us and we want to make sure we have the right address. If you bought a subscription, we will need to retain your personal information to keep sending you your mags either via email (for a digital subscription) or post (via snail mail) for the year that you have paid for. We will remind you at the end of your subscription that you will need to renew if you want to keep getting your copy of Pom Pom delivered straight to you. We will never share your email address with a third party for marketing purposes, or any other, unless we are required to by law.

Ravelry

When you buy one of our magazines or books through Ravelry we receive your email address, Ravelry username and your location if your purchase is within the EU – this allows us to comply with VATMOSS and pay the correct amount of VAT to the right country. We never share this information, and we will only use it for accounting purposes.

Embedded Content

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website. How long we retain your data If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue. For users that register on our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information. We will only use this information to process your orders and contact you if necessary (see under ONLINE SHOP above). We retain your order information after your order has been completed for bookkeeping purposes only. Where we send your data Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. Information about orders will be sent to our accounting software. What rights you have over your data If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Amend or Delete Your Data

You have a right to view, amend or delete any personal information we hold, which we think makes perfect sense! If you would like to know exactly what personal information we hold, you are welcome to get in touch at any time! We love hearing from you. The best way to get in touch is by emailing us – contact@pompommag.com.

Happy browsing!
