Pom Pom is proud to present our range of thoughtfully written and beautifully designed books. Each title is produced with the same attention to detail as the magazine, from a selection of the some of the best knitting personalities working today.

Join the Pom team in exploring one of our favourite designs! Our follow-up to Knit How takes the straightforward raglan-sleeve pullover as a blank canvas and walks you through all the ways to make it your own. We offer blueprints for 8 distinct raglans and coach you through choosing perfect-for-you necklines, hemlines, ribbing, stitch textures, and fancy raglan increases. And, of course, we show you how to create jaw-dropping colour combinations.

Our raglans are designed to empower improving knitters with customisation skills, but also to free advanced knitters to fly through stressless shapes, easy customisations, and the joys of colourplay. For the truly adventurous, we even provide a formula to design your own raglan! Let’s all get out our sketchbooks and dream together.

Take a trip to Shetland this summer with our latest Pom Pom Press offering, Wool Journey: Shetland.

We’re proud to present this adventure by Jaime and Amber of Fancy Tiger Crafts, Malia Mae Joseph and Stephen West of Stephen & Penelope. Along with Ysolda Teague this group of yarn loving, knitting-aficionado friends took a trip to Shetland, and brought back a wealth of inspiration and knowledge.

Out of this woolly adventure came a beautiful book that explores the knitting community and culture from the Shetland Islands. It’s part travel guide, part travel book, and of course features 5 patterns inspired by and knit in Shetland yarns.

Our love of print extends beyond the realm of magazines with our very first book Take Heart: A Transatlantic Knitting Journey by Fiona Alice. You may recognise Fiona’s name from the gorgeous patterns she has designed for Pom Pom Quarterly in the past, and we are thrilled to be able to expand upon her distinctive design aesthetic, beautiful illustration style, and thoughtful writing.

Take Heart traces a path across the Atlantic from Fiona’s hometown in Nova Scotia, to where she now resides in London. The book was photographed by longtime Pom Pom collaborator Juju Vail, with the stunning Welsh seaside as the backdrop.

Each pattern is lovingly illustrated by Fiona, along with heartfelt writing detailing her inspiration behind each one. We believe that handmade objects are imbued with the stories of those who make them, and nowhere is that more evident than here.

featuring 11 accessory patterns using yarns from locally owned British & Canadian companies including

SweetGeorgia // Handmaiden Fine Yarn // John Arbon Textiles // Illimani // The Uncommon Thread // Kettle Yarn Co // Toft Alpaca // The Border Mill

Capsule Collection
By: Jacqueline Cieslak
Expected: Late February 2021
Jacqueline Cieslak’s commitment to embracing all of our community has won us over completely, so we are publishing her first book! Jacqui’s fundamental design philosophy is that all bodies are deserving of clothes that fit perfectly. She combines sewing and knitting expertise in a new capsule collection of three sewn and three knitted garments, interchangeable enough to form a coherent wardrobe. Each pattern features components like an adjustable bicep that are easily tailored to your body and all the techniques you’ll need. If you haven’t encountered Jacqui’s work before, check out her interview from Issue 32 of Pom Pom Quarterly, available free on our blog.

Title TBC
By: Kiyomi Burgin & Sachiko Burgin
Expected: Mid-August 2021
Meet your new go-to designers for elevated basics! Twin sisters Kiy and Chi are masters of wearable designs for city life that revel in glorious, understated wooliness without looking ‘homemade’. They design the kinds of patterns that prompts a friend to ask where you bought something, even when they know you are a hardcore knitter. This gender-neutral, size-inclusive collection is simple and understated, with no fussy techniques, so that all knitters are welcome. But don’t be misled by the lack of fuss; these designs are carefully engineered with a backbone of subtle edginess we see in few other designers working today. Design influences include Japanese street fashion, grunge, magic, and minimalist design and we cannot wait to see how they manifest!

Shetland Trader: Book Three (Title TBC)
By: Gudrun Johnston
Expected: Mid-October 2021
Gudrun Johnston’s beloved Shetland Trader series is about to expand into its third volume and Pom Pom is delighted to be part of it for the first time! Book Three reimagines 6 designs Gudrun’s own Mum created in the 1970s, when she ran The Shetland Trader knitwear company in Scotland. Over 40 years later, traditional Shetland knitting elements like fine lace and colourwork are as relevant as ever, and so are (some!) aspects of seventies’ style! Gudrun’s fully-modernised versions of her Mum’s vintage patterns will include accessories, sweaters, and knitted dresses. The original designs were made for living in, and Gudrun keeps that spirit alive. Expect inclusive sizing, interchangeable colorwork options, and choices of design elements like turtle or crew necks or – gasp – balloon or straight sleeves!
