Pom Pom Quarterly, Issue 9: Summer 2014 || Baya by Mindy Wilkes

Pom Pom is 2! Happy birthday? Why thank you! We’re feeling pretty celebratory – we’re head-over-heels in love with this new issue, if we do say so ourselves!

Here’s our official preview of the loveliness to drop in an LYS or postbox near you. Of course, if you’re not a subscriber, or don’t know where your nearest stockist is, you can subscribe here and find our retailers here. Go now! (And then come back and continue your tour of this new issue!)

Above is our cover girl, Baya by Mindy Wilkes (of beautiful shawl design fame). We’re obsessed with it. It’s knit in a to-die-for combination of SweetGeorgia’s Tough Love Sock and Cashsilk Lace. Ahhhhh we’re dying of gorgeousness… send help!

Pom Pom Quarterly, Issue 9: Summer 2014 || Sombra by Elanor King

Okay, this won’t help at all. It’s the also-gorgeous Sombra by Elanor King. We can also confirm that it’s gorgeousness is increased a million-fold in person. That’s because it’s knit in the spider-silk-like Habu Non-Twist Cotton Lace. It’s wispy, and light and yes, you should totally knit that.

Pom Pom Quarterly, Issue 9: Summer 2014 || Ananas Comusus by Sarah Garry

So, everything should be covered in pineapples this summer, no? Thanks to designer Sarah Garry, at least now your knitwear can be! Susan Crawford Vintage’s Coquette cotton is just the thing with which to do this.

Flora by Susan Crawford

Speaking of Susan Crawford, this is her design, Flora, which was inspired by Flora Klickmann, who Susan writes about in this issue. Flora is knit in Susan’s new yarn, Fenella, a lovely yarn for all your vintagey needs.

Pom Pom Quarterly, Issue 9: Creamsicle by Sarah HurwitzSticking with our ice creamy colour theme, this is the delectable Creamsicle by Sarah Hurwitz. The yarn by Kettle Yarn Co is just as dreamy soft as a melting ice cream treat. Plus this colour combo is the height of retro awesomeness.

Pom Pom Quarterly, Issue 9: Emery by Shannon CookNow here’s one to keep you wrapped up in style of a summer evening. It’s Emery by Shannon Cook, in Plucky Sweater. It’s a super-versatile shawl – be sure to check out the other pics of this one for more ways to wear it!

Pom Pom Quarterly, Issue 9: Seaside Sundae by Suzanne Stallard

The Seaside Sundae blanket by Suzanne Stallard is another winner in our book. By the seaside or in the park, we can’t get enough of these naturally dyed colours from Elisabeth Beverley. Sigh… lovely, dreamy, summery texture.

Pom Pom Quarterly, Issue 9: Sceles by Anna Maltz
Here’s one for all you linen-lovers, and future linen lovers! For not only has Anna Maltz designed this beautiful top in Karin Öberg’s Kalinka linen yarn, she’s also written a kind of love-letter-in-PPQ-article-form dedicated to the fibre.

Pom Pom Quarterly, Issue 9: Libette by Michelle Zimmer

And last, but most certainly not least is a little surprise – a sewn top! Libette is an easy-peasy tee stitched up by Michelle Zimmer in Liberty print fabric – the perfect project for a hot hot hot summer day.

Of course there’s more in the mag – there’s always more! Like the sound of an article on stitch design by the incomparable Juju Vail? How about a recipe for Raspberry Eton Mess Parfait (read: layers of ice cream with raspberries and meringue)? Tutorials? Lots of other fun stuff? We thought so! Grab your copy today.
