As this is our anniversary year, we’re doing everything with an extra special flair, and that includes our knit along too! This season’s KAL is made possible thanks to our headline sponsors John Arbon Textiles, plus the lovely Coop Knits, Julie Asselin, Kettle Yarn Co. and La Bien Aimée.
Following the release of Issue 21, you now have nearly 200 Pom Pom patterns to chose from! In fact, did you know that accordingly to Ravelry, over the past five years you folks have knitted over 10,000 beautiful woolly things from the magazine – phew!
In addition to our back catalogue, there are 16 new birthday patterns to choose from! There are some mighty fine yarns to peruse as well. Our lovely KAL sponsors might just give you a clue of the yarns in our Anniversary Issue – here’s a reminder of their lovely yarns!
The rules of the KAL are the same as always, so here’s a reminder of how to get involved.
1) Knit or crochet a project from any issue of Pom Pom or our blog.
2) Any project is welcome as long as you haven’t entered it before.
3) Post updates, pics, notes, comments, oohs and ahhs etc in this thread, and post a pic of your finished item in the FO thread.
4) At the end of each season, 28th July, we choose winners at random who will receive some wonderful prizes!
And there are plenty of prizes to be had! Not only will you be able to join in posting your FO online, as the name suggests this Pomfest KAL will be running during our big birthday party Pomfest! So if you come dressed wearing your Pom Pom finest you’ll be entered to win the special Pomfest prize. Extra points if you knit something from our Anniversary Issue 21!
Speaking of, we’re thrilled to announce the designer line up for this summer issue. A list of people we are very proud to have collaborated with in past issues who have all created stellar pieces in honour of our anniversary.
We’ll be bringing you extra KAL blog posts with tips, tricks and titbits of information to keep you up to date with our big knit along!
Here we’re joined by designer, knitter, and all round PPQ pal, Francesca Hughes. You may know from her Pom Pom designs Vellamo, Lemel, and most recently Jamboree in Issue 21, or from her collaborations with John Arbon Textiles. You’ll be able to say hello to Francesca, and see all the gorgeous John Arbon yarns she uses for yourself at Pomfest this summer! Plus, the man himself John Arbon will be our DJ for the Friday night Pomcast Live Party, spinning some tunes as brilliantly as he spins yarns!
Thanks again to our KAL Sponsors
