Hey Pomcats! We’re bringing you another slice of Rhinebeck 2018 fun with our Norah Gaughan interview recorded live at the festival. We find out more about Norah’s vision for our winter issue and we’ve also got all the news about our recent releases Knits About Winter and Knit How. This episode is a slightly shorter chat, but we’ll be back at the end of Decemeber for a festive special, joined by our friend and producer Eli Block! We’ll be interviewing this maverick, so if you have any questions for Eli (or for Lydia and Sophie) comment below!
Make sure to download the Soundcloud app if you want to listen on a mobile device, or if you subscribe to Pomcast on iTunes it should appear on your device now! All episodes of Pomcast are also now available on Stitcher too. And while you’re having a listen, why not rate us or even leave a little review – thanks!
If you listened to our last episode, you would have heard us talking to Emily Foden about the detailed process behind creating Knits About Winter. This magical snowy book can now be found in your LYS and we also have special Knits About Winter gift sets, which includes a pack of 4 Christmas cards illustrated by Emily! In this episode we chatted about the workshops Emily is hosting in Canada in the next few weeks. Up first is Toronto, at Bookhou on 7th -9th December (tickets available here), then Montreal at La Maison Tricotee on 3rd January (tickets here), and Hamilton at Hand Knit Yarn on 24th January (tickets here). Each location will play host to a launch night featuring the Knits About Winter trunk show and a book signing with the lovely Emily, plus Viola classes over the corresponding weekend. At PPHQ we are ending this year with a final bang, introducing the Pom Pom learn to knit book! The only guide a novice will need to start a journey through the world of yarn, Knit How is a friendly and easy-to-use introduction to knitting. The book includes ten knitting patterns for accessories and garments, along with illustrated techniques and essential top tips for the beginner knitter, all in Pom Pom’s signature style. You can pre-order now, find it in your LYS from 8th Decemeber, and yes, there is also the option of a gift set too!
INTERVIEW Our chat with Norah of course focuses on the glorious winter issue 27! We chatted about her design, the covergirl Nightingale, Cirilia Rose’s design Nimue, which started life as the pattern Hekla, the stunning sleeves of Osumda, and the Sojourner shawl. As well as talking all things Issue 27 (which you can find on the Pom Pom shop here!), Norah gives insights into her other print projects Knitted Cable Sourcebook and Knitting Nature. Thanks Norah for joining us on the podcast!
We’ll be back soon with the last podcast of 2018, happy knitting until then! Pom Pom xx
