NEWS

We have parties on our mind as Lydia has just celebrated her 30th birthday – many happy returns to her! Of course all this celebrating puts us in good stead to prepare all the fun things for Pomfest! Make sure you get your tickets for the marketplace here (you can choose either the Friday or the Saturday) and also for our Friday night event Pomcast live! Lydia and Sophie will be joined by special guests to bring you a live and interactive version of the podcast.

Pomcast Live Flyer

We want to hear from you for this special Pomcast Live; we need your queries for ‘What Would Juju Do?’ as Juju will be solving those dilemmas in person! Plus, if you remember our producer extraordinaire Eli reading your knitting horror stories on the podcast last Halloween,  you’ll be pleased hear to we have him back again to entertain us as compère and craft disasters storyteller. Please send us your stories and WWJJD via [email protected] – we hope to see you there!

TELL + TELL

While Lydia is enjoying some quality time with her Vellamo sleeves, she is also extolling the virtues and magic of weaving all the scarves! If you fancy trying weaving too, we highly recommend our tutorial from Issue 17! This is one of her projects (while it was still on the loom) made with Daughter of a Shepherd yarn, alongside various John Arbon yarns. All spun in the same mill!

Sophie has finished her Rockhopper Shawl and started the Tinea cardigan from Issue 20. This yarn is Rosy Sport from Anna Dandelion – yay!

REVIEW

Some gorgeous Waterstreet DK has come to visit from across the pond from the lovely folks at Northlight Fibres. We love this squishy soft merino and cashmere blend and are pretty impressed that the whole processing of this yarn is all done in the same place, Block Island in the United States. If you fancy getting your needles around these two skeins, simply comment below letting us know who you are most looking forward to seeing speak at Pomfest (you can see the line up here if you need reminding!) Make sure you get your entries in before midnight 7th May as entries made after this won’t count – good luck!

I won’t be able to attend Pomfest, but I’d love watching Clara Parkes speak! So happy about all your festivities — it’s so great to see you all thriving and doing all these activities!

It’s dificult to choose with such an amazing line-up, but I would say Bristol Ivy.

  3. Ingrid May 1, 2017 at 5:20 pm #

Thanks for the podcast. Although I got so engrossed listening that I forgot to cast on extra sitiches for drop sleeves and knitted away and then had to rip it all back. I find with easy patterns I make more mistakes than with hard ones!
Anyway I am looking forward to hearing and seeing Bristol Ivy at pomfest and you too of course
    Ingrid

Looking forward to pop fest tremendously, and all the speakers, yarns, everything but if I must choose then Bristol Ivy, I just love the way she constructs garments, really clever.

Sadly, I don’t think I’ll make it to the party, though a girl can dream, can’t she? Maybe one day! The entire lineup is incredible. One person I’d love to hear is Veera. I actually learned to knit while I was a high school exchange student in Finland so meeting her would be like coming full circle!

For a brief moment my partner and I thought – we should go – but then we realised it wouldn’t work this summer (we have to cross the atlantic to get there). We were just loving the thought of going away and checking out all the yarns etc. Oh well !

I wish I could attend and, if I could, I would love to hear all of the panel. However, if I had to choose only one, it would be Clara Parkes

  13. Claire May 2, 2017 at 4:32 pm #

Ack! A fave? Unfortunately I won’t be able to attend but I hope there is an opportunity to see highlights of the event and speakers at some point. All the speakers are so talented and inspirational

  28. Tamara Snell May 6, 2017 at 3:05 pm #

Well, that’s a hard question…I think it’s a toss-up between Thea Colman, Bristol Ivy and Veera V. Just to add, those two skeins of North Light Fibres yarn are to die for 😍😍 Everything crossed 🤞🏻🙊
