We’re a bit slow off the mark, but maybe it’s because we’ve only just about recovered from all the fun we had at Unwind Brighton. So here’s a belated catch up from an amazing weekend celebrating all that the independent knitting community in the UK and further afield has to offer.
Above is a photo of some of the little balls of yarn that went into our Seaside Shindig goodie bags. Each party-goer got to “taste” 3 of the yarns on offer on our menu of stallholders from the marketplace. Yum!
In case you weren’t able to attend the party (it was very much sold out!) here’s the list of the yarns on the menu. We highly recommend checking these out – they’re some of our favourites!
- Old Maiden Aunt Corriedale Sport
- Kettle Yarn Co. Heath Fingering
- John Arbon Knit by Numbers
- Juno Fibre Arts Belle
- Sweet Georgia Merino Silk Fine
- The Uncommon Thread BFL Fingering
- Eden Cottage Oakworth DK (Polworth)
- Midwinter Yarns Pirkkalanka Thin
- Skein Queen Oasis Grande
- The Little Grey Sheep Gotland 4ply
Thanks so much to these fabulous yarn dyers and producers and also to SOAK for contributing their wares to the goodie bags!
We had such a great time putting on the party, not least because we got to host a yarn-themed pub quiz! Teams really put their heads together, guessing the answers to our woolly questions. It was so much fun! The winning team won a Pom Pom tote full of wonderful yarn from the likes of Lioness Arts, as well as patterns from the lovely Joji and Juju (two of our favourite designers with catchy “J” names!).
We met lots of new friends at the party and got to catch up with old ones. If you stayed to the very end, you might have caught us getting down on the dance floor to the groovy tunes from John Arbon (spinner extraordinaire of both records and yarn).
When we weren’t yarn-partying, we were on our stand in the beautiful surrounds of Brighton Dome. A prettier setting for a knitting festival we never did see.
We put our fancy-schmancy Instax mini to good use and got some shots of friends and helpers enjoying themselves over the weekend:
Beautiful yarns from the Nature’s Luxury stand:
There was so much to see over the weekend and we got to debut some new merchandise ourselves, including these rad tote bags:
We also had a wonderful limited edition Seaside Shindig poster for sale, Pom Pom badges and an amazing custom-designed project bag for sale (more on that soon!). There are still some totes, badges and prints available and they are now online! So grab ’em while you can!
Whew! It was exhausting just re-living all that fun! Above’s a snapshot of the dream team behind Unwind Brighton, minus the mastermind, Dani. They all did an amazing job of making this a weekend of yarny love we’ll not soon forget.
